FLIP PRESENTATION - PROPOSAL

For this Final Project - FLIP Presentation, we are being separate into few groups and were tasked to create a 1.5 to 3-minute animated infographic video that effectively presents information to a target audience using visual design principles and a structured framework.

Using a structured design framework, produce an infographic report to present information to a target audience with the aim of:

  1. Raising awareness – e.g., Global Warming, Recycling, etc.
  2. Explaining a process – e.g., "How to" videos.
  3. Defining a concept – e.g., "What is Fast Fashion?" or "What is the Colour Wheel?"

The video should utilize time-based media and appropriate software, incorporating elements such as photography and vector imagery.

Design Considerations:

  • Organization Principles – Apply LATCH principles and ensure logical content organization.
  • Aesthetic Principles – Follow key animation principles for a visually appealing outcome.
  • Cognitive Principles – Utilize effective visualization techniques for better understanding.

Output Expectations:

  • Clearly demonstrate causality.
  • Use multivariate graphics and visuals.
  • Integrate text, numbers, and images effectively.
  • Maintain appropriate content balance and clarity.
  • Ensure all key information remains within the audience’s line of sight.
  • Utilize multiple charts where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate data representation without distortion.

Requirements:

  • Video resolution: 1920px x 1080px HD.
  • Duration: Minimum 1.5 minutes, maximum 3 minutes.

FEEDBACK

Week 3:

Mr. Fauzi asked our group to revise the L.A.T.C.H. and Animation Content section of our video in the proposal slides after we presented our progress. He wanted each point to be described in detail and closely related to our topic. Additionally, he suggested that we move forward by starting to plan our storyboard for the infographic video and script for the voiceover, allowing us to determine the video's duration.

Week 5:

Mr. Fauzi suggested that our group refine our design by selecting and maintaining a consistent colour palette and colour scheme to ensure visual coherence throughout the video. He also recommended using different background colours for each section to differentiate them effectively. Alternatively, he suggested incorporating distinct background music effects for each section. Additionally, he advised adding transition effects when moving between sections to enhance the video's flow. He emphasized the importance of recording the voiceover first before proceeding with animation. Lastly, he instructed us to keep the video's duration between 1 minute and 30 seconds to 1 minute and 45 seconds, ensuring it does not exceed this limit.

Week 7:

Mr. Fauzi recommended that we should add subtitles to the video, as some viewers may watch it without sound. In addition, by including subtitles would also improve accessibility and ensure that the content is easily understood, regardless of whether the volume is turned on. Therefore, it could also help on enhancing clarity that making it easier for viewers to follow the key messages and information presented in our video.

REFLECTION

Throughout this Final Project – FLIP Presentation, which was a group project where I took on the role of leader for our team. Through this experience, I learned how to manage responsibilities as a leader and effectively distribute tasks equally among group members to ensure smooth collaboration. This experience helped me develop better communication, organization, and teamwork skills while ensuring that everyone contributed meaningfully to the project. Additionally, I gained valuable insights into combining and integrating both information and visual design in an animation video. Beyond just delivering content, I realized the importance of using visuals and graphics strategically to enhance storytelling and make the animation more engaging and visually appealing. This project not only strengthened my leadership abilities but also deepened my understanding of how design and information work together to create a satisfied final work.
